Health Kick

DB Peru is a nonprofit that delivers healthcare to some of the most remote villages along the Lower Napo River in the Peruvian Amazon. The villages are only accessible by the river, and most villagers travel in wooden paddle boats, without the aid of outboard motors.

The closest health center is a six-hour journey, and the nearest hospital takes twelve hours by paddle boat to reach.

Every year, the organization hosts an event called Health Kick, a combination soccer tournament and health fair in one of the villages. Dozens of villages arrive from near and far to battle it out on the pitch, while receiving vital health services and education.
