In 2017, Washington State University launched the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, the first medical school to open in the state in 100 years. To commemorate the momentous occasion, this narrative captures the emotional and physical journey of the first class of students to the white coat ceremony; a rite of passage in which future doctors don a white doctor’s coat for the first time, symbolizing their entry into the healthcare profession.
